Size: small, 58 cm tail included (large, 103 cm tail included)
Suggested Needles: 3.5mm (6mm) circular, short and long cables for magic loop
Gauge: 22 sts = 10 cm (17 sts = 10 cm)
Yarn Quantity: Small, 2 skeins Alpakka + 1 skein Duo (two halves for the stripes)
(large, 7 skeins Hip Wool + 2 skeins Thin merino + 1 ball Silk mohair)
Other material: yarn for embroidery and toy filling (you can also use filling from 1/2 (2) pillows)
About the pattern:
This is a pattern for two sizes: a bed dog, and a toy dog. It is knitted from the muzzle to the tail. The techniques used are: raised increases, decreases, knitting together and weaving/grafting. Hopefully you will be able to use some leftover yarn.
You can knit the sweaters with several different colored stripes, and you can also choose different colors on the dogs. Perhaps a different color on the muzzle, ears or paws?
You can mix yarn types, as long as you match the gauge – as well, if you don’t match the suggested gauge, make sure you new gauge stays the same throughout the project.
As an example, if you knit with a 24 sts gauge instead of 22, your dog will be a little smaller, and you may need more yarn. You can also adjust the length of the dogs by changing the distance between increases at the neck and decreases before the tail.
