About jacket and pattern
Skaarejakke is a timeless and cozy garter stitch jacket with a zip. A good staple piece for all wardrobes. The jacket is inspired by my everyday and surrounding area. A good woollen jacket that I wear on strolls, errands and doing the kindergarten run. But I also predict that it will serve me well in a chilly office in winter as well. It has a decent amount of positive ease so will fit over most clothes. The jacket has saddle shoulders worked from the top down. It is worked flat, also on the sleeves, to avoid having to purl stitches. All sizes described have the same garment length. This is so they can all use the same zip length. It is a short jacket. If you prefer a longer version, just make yours as long as the zip you intend to use. While on the subject of zips, the assembly is not as tricky as you might think. I have found a method that works for me and would love to share. I will do my best to guide you through this process.
Yarn choice
The pictured jacket is made in two strands of Finull and one strand Plum. Finull held double has the same gauge as a single strand of Vams. My experience is the finished garment holds together better with double Finull. Both alternatives will work well for the jacket.
A few words about mohair. I have used a strand of Plum. However, this can be omitted, particularly if using Finull or Vams. These yarns bloom slightly with blocking and can give the impression of mohair if the stitches are airy enough. If you want to make it without mohair, I recommend making a swatch and blocking it to check gauge. It is possible you may need to change the size of needle used. The jacket has rather dense stitches so removing the mohair may not change the gauge much.
