About sweater and pattern

Varden julegenser (Varden Christmas sweater) is a sweater that takes inspiration from the Varden Christmas stocking. It is inspired by my memories of Christmas spent with my grandparents in Varden. That old, warm, colourful Christmas, with angel hair and coloured lights on the tree. Lots of candles, ribbons, plastic decorations, Christmas houses and garlands. Natural linen coloured table clothes that were embroidered as part of school projects in the eighties. An interior style we see less and less of, but that more than just in can recognise and feel nostalgic about. in have tried to recapture that feeling in this sweater, so in can carry some of my memories into the festive season.

The sweater is worked top down with circular increases in the rounds between the colourwork. It is therefore quite beginner friendly. You never need to think about increases and colourwork on the same round. You also never work more than two colours at the same time. You work some short rows straight after the rib stitch neckband, to get a good fit. The sleeves are worked with some decrease rows towards the cuffs, and the body is knitted straight down.

The sweater length can be extended with the extra chart in the pattern if desired.
