About the patten and advent calendar
A timeless and elegant advent calendar in proper Norwegian wool that can be filled as desired and last for generations. The calendar itself is worked top down in garter stitch. 24 openings for pockets are included, and the pockets have a little square of stockinette stitch where the number is added. When the largest piece is worked, each pocket is made and sewn in place on the back side. Further, four straps are worked and sewn to the top. The whole calendar is then lightly felted and the numbers are embroidered on. To finish, a piece of webbing can be sewn along the top for additional support. If desired, the straps can be threaded onto a thick piece of wood e.g. a broom handle.
Yarn alternatives
To felt the advent calendar, it must be made of 100% untreated wool without added nylon or superwash.
If you choose another yarn than suggested, check the gauge and length.
Examples of thick wool yarns: Fritidsgarn from Sandnes Garn, Vams from Rauma Garn, Alaska from Drops, Hegre from Dale Garn, Troll from Hillesvåg and Hobbygarn from Viking Garn
