About the pattern
Aftens Christmas Bow is my variation on a classic bow. A ribbon is worked in stockinette stitch in such a way that the front facing side has no visible increases or decreases. It is as seamless as possible. It is worked in two pieces, one long ribbon with tapered ends, and a small cylinder which becomes the middle of the bow instead of a classic knot.
The bow can be attached to a clasp and used as a hair accessory. You can also attach a string and use it as a hanging decoration on the Christmas tree. What about using it as table decoration, or sewing it to a stocking?
It can be worked in two strands of thin silk mohair, or a single strand of a thicker yarn. Or, one strand of mohair and a thin strand of wool, or perhaps glitter yarn? If the gauge is not exact, it is not so important. If you have thicker yarn, you’ll have a larger bow, if you have thinner yarn, you’ll have a smaller bow. The yardage will also be different for other gauges. This is a great project for scrap yarn.
