About svanemor and the pattern
In 2020 I made a small cygnet for my children, and since then I have thought that the little cygnet needed a mother. After numerous attempts and challenges – she is finally ready. A graceful and not so aggressive swan as you might encounter on a walk. My amazing testers say that she is both fun to play with and cuddly to sleep with, which is promising. I hope you become just as satisfied with the svanemor as you are with svaneungen (the cygnet).
If you are going to knit svanemore for a small baby, I would recommend substituting mohair with a different fiber, for example two strands of finull.
Svanemor is worked from head to tail, with simple techniques like increase, decrease and some short rows. The beak, feet and wings are then added. Finally, some details are embroidered on.
The pattern is translated by Elise Damstra.
